MK SHIPMANAGEMENT CO., LTD. began as the shipmanagement section of KIKUYO MARITIME CO., LTD. (now KEYMAX MARITIME CO., LTD.). The company was then established as an independent entity in December 1995 in response to the 1994 adoption of the ISM Code.
In March 1996 MK SHIPMANAGEMENT obtained its Document of Compliance from Nippon Kaiji Kyokai (ClassNK). Since then, MK SHIPMANAGEMENT has added to its technical staff superintendents who have had long careers as captain or chief engineer in leading shipping companies, together with extensive experience in shipmanagement. At the same time, MK SHIPMANAGEMENT has strengthened its marketing, operations and administration to support superintending functions.
Our efforts in gaining clients' confidence in our organizational abilities such as cost competitiveness and staff competence have allowed the company to gradually cultivate a presence within the industry. While the number of managed ships were few in the years immediately following our establishment, the number rose to 50 by 1999; MK SHIPMANAGEMENT continues on today with the same forward momentum.
