The Shipping Industry had entered a new era in July 1998 when the International Safety Management (ISM) Code was effected by International Maritime Organization.

Shipmanagement procedures had to comply with the code and third party monitoring of Safety Management System compliance became obligatory.

The regular introduction of new ISM rules has been dubbed as "Rule Boom". It is indeed the corporate mission of KEYMAX GROUP to continuously improve our quality to meet the ever changing industrial standard of Safe Operation of Ships and Pollution Prevention. We are certain that the high quality of crew we supply and systemization of our operation will maintain the current Safe Operation of Ships and Pollution Prevention standard.

Meanwhile, international Shipping Industry in recent years has entered an age where hull types, cargo and services have diversified. KEYMAX GROUP is committed to preserve and pass on the next generation, the wealth of technical experience which is the most valuable asset of Japan.

KEYMAX GROUP promises to work hand-in-hand with our shipowners and provide "tailor made" ship management services with special attention to individual clients' needs.

Marine Engineering Corporation, which is now MEC CO., LTD., was established in December 1978 as a company mainly maintaining VLCCs and 80,000-ton tankers.
In 1985, we started the maintenance of various kinds of ships such as bulker with the cooperation and assistance of owners and other parties concerned. In 2000, we implemented a newbuilding project team. Since then we have handled more than 50 ships such as VLCCs, container ships, liquid carriers, cape-size bulkers and handy bulkers. Now newbuilding became our main business.

In February 2004, we changed the company name to MEC CO., LTD. and joined KEYMAX GROUP in order to speed up progress. We are committed to the continuous improvement of the skill and knowledge level of our superintendents, so as to best protect our clients' newbuilding assets, and to the strengthening of our ability as technical manager of liquid carriers, under the umbrella of KEYMAX GROUP.

We are very grateful to our clients for their long-term support in the past and look forward to our continued collaboration in future.
